Just down fom Morwellham are two other quays at New Quay and Gawton. As steam began to take over from sail, the mines locally were at peak production, and in the 1890's they quays became continuous over about 1/2 mile of river bank. At Gawton mine there was a crushing mill for the ore, as well as an arsenic flue.
