I had to put this coloured pencil drawing into the gallery as it is one of my favourites. Somehow exaggerating the leaning lines and crumbling exteriors of the buildings makes it "even more" Venice. It sold earlier this year and I hope the new owner likes it as much as I do. parting with your favourites is a sad moment, but there is compensation in knowing that someone else liked it enough to pay for it. I sometimes do something similar but it doesn't always seem to work out. Maybe there is more inspiration for the first painting, but I'm always willing to try for a commission!
